A prestigiosa revista inglesa Classic Rock compilou uma lista com as 100 melhores canções de rock de todos os tempos. Não necessariamente estão citadas as canções mais populares, mas segundo os editores da revista, “a pesquisa celebra as músicas e artistas que, não necessariamente tiveram maior sucesso, mas que sempre estarão presentes na memória das pessoas que gostam de rock”. A pesquisa foi feita com fãs do gênero musical, bem como músicos e jornalistas.“Listas que compilam as melhores canções de rock de todos os tempos sempre têm as mesmas músicas velhas”, disse Sian Llewellyn, editor da Classic Rock. “Nós queríamos uma lista feita por pessoas que realmente apreciam o rock n’ roll, sem marketing. Nós perguntamos a verdadeiros conhecedores do rock, como artistas, produtores, pessoas da indústria, agitadores culturais, bem como os próprios leitores da Classic Rock. Conseqüentemente, nossa lista contém alguns clássicos obscuros, outras canções bem conhecidas, além de várias surpresas”, afirmou o editor.Abaixo, segue a lista completa:
